Bye-Bye September!

One morning, as the air was cooler than usual, I opened the back door and tried to catch the morning fog as it was lingering over the trees. This is how it turned out.
September is always an interesting month around here. We dip in and out of Fall, one day to the next, we often have hurricanes during this month and two important birthdays come around (sometimes getting hijacked by the hurricanes).

The first birthday comes along during the 2nd week. This is our oldest granddaughter, Emmy, who turned 7 this year. She was so happy to be turning 7 and I think we've seen a maturity in her this year that's both happy and sad, if you know what I mean. She's our first, so we kind of wanted her to stay little for a while, but I guess we can't hold her back, especially since we have 4 more after her!

The next celebration was my daughter-in-love Alex's birthday. I didn't snap any pictures that night, but I did put together this basket for her. This year her birthday was the first day of Fall and every year I put together some kind of basket full of Fall items for her. I told her it was a good thing she loves Fall, because she is bound to receive one of these for the rest of her life.

Here are some other September photos...this is David with our youngest (as of right now) grandson, Asa Miller. He's the cutest boy ever! His smiles and giggles are the best! He's soon to have his partner, cousin Calem, coming along (any day now), and will be able to handle all of these girls that have run the show for 7 years.
I just love that we are adding boys to the mix! I can't help but picture our house a few more years from now. The chaos!

I think Alex snapped this shot of Emmy and me (Millie). I call her my "Millie Girl" because she has been my little planner, following in my footsteps of waking up early, wanting to have a plan for her day (or week), loving to learn and work. She also loves working with David (PawPaw) on anything he's building or fixing, which just makes his day. She's one of a kind, for sure.

And, to close out this month...among many crazy, unexpected happenings this month, I've been decluttering and organizing. I think I'm "Fall cleaning" instead of Spring cleaning, because all of a sudden, the cooler weather has me wanting to purge, consolidate, donate and declutter everything I can. I'm not mad about it! It feels so good to lessen the load.
I got these cute shower bottles off Amazon and got rid of about 6 or 7 bottles that were taking up space in the shower. That felt good!
I also cleaned out some dishes I had in the kitchen, along with some extra baking pans, bowls and decorative dishware I had been holding on to.
When you have a small space, it just doesn't make sense to hold on to things that you "might" use one day. So, I've gotten better at letting things go, when I'm holding onto them "just because."
The rest of the days of September have been busier than I would have liked. I've had little creative space to write or create. Instead, the days have been hectic and busy, dealing with other people and things that only David and I can do. I'll be honest, I don't like hectic. I don't do hectic, well. I'm not one of those people that thrive on chaos. I prefer the slower paced days, when I can enjoy my home, create or write and have enough margin to breath. Here's hoping October can usher in more of that!
Coming soon, we should have some updates on how the renovation is going. I can't wait to share some "before and after" pictures of our new bathroom, screened in porch and other projects in the works.
But, Until Next Time...
Blessings!
