When the Lord Nudges

It was a normal week by most standards. The days were filled with the usual activities - groceries, bills, chores, lunch with a friend, editing my never-ending-book project, family visits and Millie day. Nothing unusual happening, except that I couldn't get my friend Patty off my mind the entire week. By Friday I could ignore the nudge no longer, so I messaged Patty on Instagram to see how she was doing. Little did I know, that message would be an answered prayer for both of us.
You see, Patty and I met years ago as bloggers. I found her through a mutual blog we both followed and loved everything she was sharing back then. We've kept up with each other through blogging and eventually on Instagram, as blogging began to fade. Over the years, as Patty has shared her heart through posts and her YouTube videos, I've often found myself nodding my head in agreement at the things she was going through. I felt a kindred connection with her, even though we've never met.
Fast forward to this Friday and I felt the Lord nudging me to check on her and see how she was doing.
That message led to an afternoon of texting back and forth and realizing that we both needed a new place to connect - or more like a revival of an old place to connect.
Equally unimpressed with social media, Patty and I talked about our mutual desire to go back to the old way of writing from our hearts and reading what other like-minded women were experiencing on a deeper level.
Back in the day, blogging was a deeper connection than the connecting of today. When you found a blogger you connected with, you became invested in their lives, more than just clicking a heart and scrolling by. Blogging allowed us to be vulnerable and share stories and dreams. It allowed others to take part in encouraging and sharing their own stories. Blogging allowed everyone's light to shine, in their own way, without feeling like it was a competition. You just were who you were and there were no fancy filters to hide the truth.
By the time Patty and I finished talking back and forth, we had a plan to get back on the platform that brought us together in the first place and invite some other writers along for the ride.
The plans are in the works and we are so excited to create a new community of women who have a heart for writing and sharing, through the blogging platform.
In the meantime, I'll be starting this new blog, and listening a little more closely to the Lord's nudges. It took me all week to finally heed the calling to check on Patty, but at least I finally did it! And what a blessing it turned out to be.
Stay tuned for all the details!
And until next time...
Blessings!
